Caravanning la Manga site is one of the best managed in
Spain. It is run by the Martinez family and has been considerably upgraded over the past
five years. It has two swimming pools, one indoor heated pool with Jacuzzi and fitness
centre and an outdoor pool and children's paddling pool. The outside pool has a bar during
the summer months and an English club during the winter months. There are weekly dances and
entertainment such as bingo and quizzes.
There is also the free use of several tennis courts and boules areas. There is also a
private beach with its own restaurant and bar. The entrance to the site, the office and gate
are manned twenty four hours per day, seven days per week. Entrance is limited to owners and
their guests only. There is a large British faction permanently living on site, together
with a big influx of British who stay for the winter season.
The site is based on the Mar Menor which is a very safe and shallow bathing area. It is
suitable for many water sports particularly wind surfing, diving and sailing. There are also
numerous open golf courses with more under construction in the surrounding countryside.
The
Mediterranean is only a few minutes away with its long sandy beaches and small coves. La
Manga area has a very large British contingency and is growing all the time. This means the
number of British bars and restaurants is increasing all the while.
The caravan site is only 30 miles from San Javier (Murcia) airport with budget airlines such
as Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2 and Flybe and more to follow. Alicante airport is only 75 miles
from La Manga. Both of these airports are accessed by motorway (AP7).
